First Aid At Work Course - 3 Days

This course gives the learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and emergencies that could occur in the workplace.

Course Structure and Programme

All candidates will receive a training pack including a host of resources to help assimilate the knowledge and skills. This includes a course manual, personal resuscitation mask and medical emergencies flow charts to use as an aide-memoire after the course.

Course Overview

This course is suitable for people over 16 yrs of age who work in high hazard environments, such as construction, manufacturing or agriculture. It is also ideal for organisations whose risk assessment identifies a requirement for additional first aid training. (e.g. due to additional risks or employees with specific health needs). This course gives the learners the skills and confidence to respond to a range of accidents and emergencies that could occur in the workplace. In addition, this course covers the use of an automated defibrillator (AED).

On completion of the course, candidates will receive a First Aid At Work certificate that is valid for 3 years. However, for best practice and in line with HSE recommendations, we recommend an annual first aid skills update.

  • The role of the first aider
  • Managing an emergency
  • Communication and casualty care
  • Bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Burns
  • Choking
  • Fainting
  • Health and safety (first aid) regulations
  • Resuscitation (adult CPR) including AED
  • Seizures (adult)
  • Shock
  • Unresponsive casualty
