ALS/APLS Pre-Course Preparation Support

This module is designed to provide you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) courses. Throughout this preparation, you will review vital concepts, protocols, and guidelines necessary for managing life-threatening emergencies in both adults and children.

Completing this pre-course work will ensure you are well-prepared for the practical sessions and assessments, helping you to maximise your learning and effectiveness during the life support training.

The Importance of Pre-Course Preparation

We recognise that attending one of the advanced resuscitation courses can be very stressful and you will be well supported by all the faculty during this intensive course.

Adequate and appropriate pre course preparation is a must particularly if you don’t have access to your own in house resuscitation officer. We can help with this.

Many of our trainers are ALS/APLS instructors or course directors and can spend time running through skill stations and scenarios with you. This will ensure you are well prepared and given the best chance of doing your best.

Please contact us to discuss your individual needs.

How We Support You Before the Course

We understand that not every candidate has access to an in-house resuscitation officer or mentor. That’s why RCMS offers one-to-one and small group pre-course sessions, tailored to your individual needs.

Delivered by experienced ALS/APLS instructors and course directors, our preparation sessions cover:

  • Review of core ALS/APLS algorithms and clinical guidelines
  • Hands-on practice for key skill stations (e.g. airway management, CPR, defibrillation, intraosseous access)
  • Guided walkthrough of common simulation scenarios
  • Confidence-building tips and strategies for assessment success

Who This Is For

  • Final-year medical students
  • Newly qualified healthcare professionals
  • First-time ALS/APLS participants
  • Candidates lacking access to structured in-house training

Flexible & Personalised Learning

Our preparation support is flexible and designed to work around your schedule. Whether you’re joining an ALS or APLS course at RCMS or elsewhere, we’ll help you feel prepared and supported every step of the way.
