Course Objectives:

To provide and update staff with the latest legislation regarding manual handling. To promote a safer working environment within the organisation through key principles of good manual handling techniques.

The session will include:

  • Manual handling legislation
  • Facts and statistics
  • Employer and employee responsibilities
  • Causes of back and muscular skeletal pain
  • Spinal awareness and basic body mechanics
  • Risk assessment
  • Practical handling techniques with the use of moving and handling aids and equipment, specific to the organisations requirements and needs
  • Manual handling techniques in emergency situations
  • How to prevent back injuries
  • Review of the session
