Why Anaphylaxis Training Matters
Anaphylaxis is a rapidly developing, life-threatening allergic reaction that requires immediate recognition and treatment. Incidence rates across the UK continue to rise, particularly among children and adults with food allergies, insect sting allergies and reactions to medications.
Despite clear national guidance from the Resuscitation Council UK (RCUK) and the Anaphylaxis Campaign, many clinical and non-clinical staff remain unsure how to recognise anaphylaxis, when to administer adrenaline or how to manage the emergency safely.
This course provides a clear, practical foundation in:
- Early recognition of signs and symptoms
- Rapid assessment using a structured approach
- Safe administration of adrenaline (auto-injector or syringe)
- Delivering life support while awaiting emergency help
It is designed to reduce confusion, improve response times and build confidence when managing real emergency situations.
Course Overview
This practical course combines interactive teaching with hands-on emergency response training. Delegates take part in realistic simulated scenarios, practise using resuscitation equipment, and develop confidence in administering adrenaline via auto-injector and intramuscular syringe.
Training is delivered in accordance with RCUK anaphylaxis guidance and the Anaphylaxis Campaign.
Course Length:
At least 2 contact hours
Course Assessment:
Assessment is continuous
Certification:
Certificate of attendance issued on completion
Compliance:
Meets RCUK, CQC, and Anaphylaxis Campaign training standards
